Favre–Racouchot syndrome (Favre–Racouchot disease, Nodular cutaneous elastosis with cysts and comedones):

  • Is a form of sun damage
  • Usually develops in the skin of older adults
  • Is more common in men
  • Appears as dilated pores filled with dark coloured debris (open comedones, black heads)
  • Is usually located on the temples, upper cheeks and the outside edges of the eyes
  • May get gradually worse with time
  • Is not due to diet
  • Is not deposits of calcium in the skin
  • Is not deposits of cholesterol in the skin



  • Wash your face twice daily with a mild cleanser

Medical Treatment:

  • Tretinoin prescription creams are helpful
    • A tiny dab the size of a pea is enough to cover the entire face
    • If your face becomes too dry or flaky use the cream every other night or every third night
  • Extractions:
    • For deep stubborn lesions of Favre-Racouchot syndrome, black heads, blocked pores and white heads
    • Performed by the medical aesthetic technicians in my office
    • Can be combined with the other treatments above
