Angiokeratomas
General Information:
- Are harmless.
- Appear and small 1 mm to 4 mm deep blue, deep purple or almost black bumps on the scrotum or vulva.
- Are more common as a person ages.
- Are not warts.
- Are not cancerous or precancerous.
- Are not herpes.
- Are due to the enlargement of small veins in the skin.
- The veins become more visible when they fill with blood.
Treatment:
- No treatment is necessary.
- If removal is desired for cosmetic reasons, IPL (Intense Pulsed Light), electrocautery, or surgery may be used.
- It is usually recommended to leave angiokeratomas alone.
